FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

When should I book my fitting, especially for a wedding dress?

We recommend scheduling your first fitting as soon as possible — ideally 6–8 weeks before your wedding date. That gives enough time for two or three fittings and any final adjustments. For rush orders or last‑minute changes, please contact us — we do our best to accommodate.

Can you work on dresses bought elsewhere (not from your atelier)?

Yes — we gladly accept garments purchased outside our studio. Whether it’s a wedding gown, designer dress, or haute couture piece, we can tailor it to fit you perfectly. Bring the dress, and we’ll evaluate what’s needed.

What should I bring to my fitting appointment?

Please bring the dress (in a garment bag if possible), the shoes you plan to wear, and any undergarments, shapewear or accessories you plan to use on the event day. This helps us adjust length, fit, and drape precisely — especially for bridal gowns.

How long does a typical alteration take?

It depends on the complexity of the garment. For standard hems or minor adjustments, it may take a few days. For bridal gowns, complex couture pieces or heavy embellishments, allow 1–2 weeks or more. If you need a faster turnaround, we offer rush service (additional fee may apply).

Do you offer custom tailoring / redesign (not just minor alterations)?

Absolutely. Beyond hemming or resizing, we can reshape silhouettes, modify necklines, add or remove sleeves, re‑imagine vintage dresses into modern looks, or transform heirloom garments into contemporary couture pieces.

Can I walk in, or is an appointment required?

Walk‑ins are welcome, though we highly recommend making an appointment — especially for bridal gowns or couture pieces — to ensure you receive our full attention and avoid waiting times.

What is the typical cost range for alterations?

Because each garment and project is unique — fabric type, number of layers, lace or beadwork, complexity — costs vary. We provide a free quote after we examine the garment and discuss your needs. This way you know up front what to expect.

What if I need urgent alterations just before the event?

We understand emergencies happen. If you need a rush alteration, reach out as soon as possible. Depending on our scheduling, we’ll try to accommodate — sometimes with an additional rush‑fee.

Will my dress be preserved if it has delicate fabrics, lace, beadwork or vintage elements?

Yes. We specialize in delicate work — couture, vintage alterations, restyling heirloom dresses and handling fragile fabrics with care. Each piece is treated individually to preserve its integrity.

How many fittings does a bridal alteration normally require?

For most wedding dresses we recommend at least 2–3 fittings: an initial adjustment, a second for fine‑tuning, and a final check. Especially important: bring your actual shoes — hem length and train fall depend on footwear height.
